"Why We Cycle" B.C. Premiere

March 12, 2018 in Events, Promotion

To the Dutch, cycling is as normal as breathing. They don’t think about it, they just do it. Perhaps the fact that they don’t think about it is the key to the bicycle’s success there. But because they do not give cycling a second thought, they don’t really know what the deeper needs of cyclists are. “Why We Cycle” takes a ride with ordinary cyclists and specialists from a variety of disciplines. These conversations uncover some obvious, but even more hidden effects of cycling, on people, on societies, and on the organization of cities.

Modacity are proud to present the B.C. premiere of Dutch documentary "Why We Cycle", which will be screening in three locations this spring:

Monday, May 7th, 2018: The Rio Theatre, Vancouver (Tickets)
Wednesday, May 9th, 2018: Mary Irwin Theatre, Kelowna (Tickets)
Monday, May 14th, 2018: The Vic Theatre, Victoria (Tickets)

The 56-minute film will be followed by a half-hour panel discussion with local politicians, bike advocates, and business leaders, including Kelowna Mayor Colin Basran and Victoria Mayor Lisa Helps.

These events would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors: BikeMaps.org, Carscadden Stokes McDonald Architects, Modus Planning Design & Engagement, Reckless Bikes, Richards Buell Sutton Lawyers, Urban Systems Ltd., Bike Doctor, DIALOG, Dudoc Vancouver, Mobi Bikes, Netherlands Consulate Vancouver, Shift Delivery, Capital Regional District, and TapBike.
